Jack Mercer and the Whiskey Bandits:
Jack Mercer, hailing from Westham Island, BC, spent his formative years gazing into the black, swirling waters of the West Coast. His music reflects the ebb and flow of the tide, advancing and down the sandy shores of your mind. Jack's melody washes over your ears, transporting you into a foot-stomping, smokey-saloon=like trance.
The Whiskey Bandits—viola player Ian Cromwell, bassist Tom Kuzma, guitarist Ben Parker, and drummer Nate 'The Kid' Campbell—have Mercer's back, on and off the stage. Commanding your attention with their animated showmanship, Jack and The Bandits are notorious for their live action performances. This 5-piece folk outfit have become recognized as
some of the best performers west of the Rockies. The tunes of their tugboat ballads, wanderers' blues and doomed romance ditties transcend the walls of Americana.
With a cross-Canada tour and a full-length record (2014's Lonesome dreams & Wild Things) already under their belts, the band has gone full-steam ahead writing their next EP.
Most recently their celebrating the Grand Prize win with The Roxy Launch Project, which gave them $5,000 and a song recording with world-renowned producer and co-founder of Nimbus Recording School, Garth Richardson. These boys are a band that truly doesn't stop – an unrelenting force fuelled by hard work, guts, sweat, love and whiskey. They’re kicking off 2017 touring their new material through BC and AB
through February and March.
Clay Ravens:
Founded upon the guttural, honey-smoked harmonies of their vocal blend; Clay Ravens began as a singer-songwriter project between two siblings: Justin and Brianne Huntley Smith.
Their songs lent themselves to a more complex sound, so the band needed growth. With each new contributor came an unexpected twist to the original vision.
Incorporating Kelsey Butkus’s punk/metal technical bass skills, Brendan Tydall’s shredding twang electric guitar style, Matt Cook-Contois’s legendary fiddle chops and Jesse Mark's third line shuffle, the band has formed an extremely unique folk-Americana sound that has audiences on the tip of their toes and screaming for more.
Cassidy Waring: Just a prairie girl gone west with her autoharp. Singin' tunes of swoons and whiskey moons.
