Smallpools (Indie Pop):
After bursting onto the scene with their 4 song self-titled EP, Smallpools has toured to all corners of North America supporting Twenty One Pilots, WALK THE MOON, Neon Trees, Grouplove, and Two Door Cinema Club, as well as playing both Lollapalooza and Firefly Festival. The release of their self-titled debut EP gained them critical acclaim and brought them their national TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live, performing their debut single "Dreaming" which was produced by Captain Cuts. You can hear watch the music video for "Dreaming" here, which has almost 9 million views, and counting.
On March 20th, 2015, the band released their debut album, LOVETAP!. Receiving over 85 million Spotify streams, the band performed their second single "Karaoke" on Late Night with Seth Meyers followed by two successful North American headlining tours.
In addition, "Dreaming" reached #1 in July 2015 at pop radio in Japan resulting in a sold out headlining show at Club Duo in Tokyo and a premier slot at Summer Sonic Festival.
This year, the band co-wrote the song "Break Up Every Night" on The Chainsmokers' debut album, Memories... Do Not Open, which was released in April via Disrupter/Columbia Records. The song was performed on the duo's Saturday Night Live debut on release day.
Smallpools consists of Sean Scanlon (vocals/keys), Michael Kamerman (guitar), and Beau Kuther (drums).
Great Good Fine OK (Indie Pop):
Is it possible to be nostalgic for the future? Brooklyn synthpop duo Great Good Fine Ok met one evening in 2013 and by the next morning had written their first song together, "You're the One for Me," a gauzy, heart-thumping anthem that hit #1 on Hype Machine twice in one month and instantly established the group's sound with Jon Sandler's dancefloor falsetto soaring over Luke Moellman's lush post-Space Age production, the perfect soundtrack for retrofuturism. An EP, Body Diamond, soon followed, as did a slate of shows at that year's SXSW festival and a deal with Neon Gold and Epic Records. In 2014 GGFO's second EP, 2M2H, reached #10 on the iTunes dance chart and featured the St. Lucia collaboration "Something to Believe In," which premiered on Entertainment Weekly. In keeping with this collaborative spirit, GGFO co-wrote and performed on The Chainsmoker's single "Let You Go," recorded a cover of Phil Collins's "Easy Lover" with fellow Brooklynite Panama Wedding, and produced the song "Shapeshifting" with Irish folk-pop singer Orla Gartland, whom Jon and Luke met after their headlining show at Notting Hill Arts Club in London. They have also remixed songs by St Lucia, Foxes, Twenty One Pilots, Luxley, Little Daylight, and many others.
In the past three years, GGFO have performed shows supporting acts ranging from Tove Lo to X Ambassadors to Penguin Prison and have embarked on four major US tours with Betty Who, Joywave, Magic Man, Vacationer, and Panama Wedding, with four songs reaching #1 on Hype Machine and their single "Take It or Leave It" surpassing ten million plays on Spotify. As anyone who attended the group's recent sold-out Northeast headlining tour can attest, GGFO has amassed a large contingent of loyal fans who have come to expect over-the-top live performances involving silk kimonos, triggered lights, and histrionic keytar solos, with Jon and Luke backed by drummer Danny Wolf and guitarist Carey Clayton. 2016 has already seen the release of three singles and an EP of GGFO songs remixed by like-minded artists, with more new works ever looming on the horizon. Music blog Indie Shuffle says, "I dare you to find another group in the past two years who has been so prolific and consistent with their releases while at the same time delivering some of the most heavenly signature falsetto vocals known to man."
Half The Animal:
Formed in 2016, Los Angeles-based alternative rock quartet Half the Animal produces an infectious sound, which blends catchy, hook-laden rock attitude and pop-driven styles. Originally founded by vocalist Chase Johnson and drummer Nick Gross—who were featured cast members in the hit MTV reality TV series ‘Laguna Beach’ during their formative days as the band Open Air Stereo—Half the Animal also includes bassist Evan Smith (Silversun Pickups/Chromeo/Big Data) and classically trained guitarist Dan Graham.
Half the Animal made impact with their memorable debut single “Babylon,” a grandiose, stadium-sized rock anthem that became the band’s first-ever viral hit, garnering over 1 million streams online, collectively, since its release in July 2016. The song quickly earned the band nationwide industry attention and strong radio support on multiple SiriusXM channels, including Top 40 radio station Hits 1 and The Pulse, as well as regular airplay on tastemaker Los Angeles stations ALT 98.7 and KROQ, which featured Half the Animal on their celebrated Locals Only program. Collectively, Half the Animal also count over 1 million YouTube views to date and have been featured by ‘Billboard’ and Ones to Watch (Live Nation).
In fall 2017, Half the Animal released the successful follow-up single “bad bad Love” via the group’s independent imprint Noise Nest Records. Featuring a lush soundscape built atop hypnotic vocal melodies, piercing piano chords and dreamy synths, the track was highlighted on Spotify’s influential New Music Friday playlist. The band also launched a 33-date US Fall tour in September 2017 alongside Atlas Genius in support of the track.
