I’m going to be playing a special set of music that I’ve been influenced by recently along with new music and edits I’ve made with the dancefloor in mind.
Tor
Emerging in late 2012 with a sound that was all his own, Tor’s debut album ‘Drum Therapy’ was the culmination of over a decade of quietly honing his craft, merging the aesthetics of dusty samples with polished production, addictive melody and unique driving percussion. After catching the attention of Emancipator, the album became the first release to launch his new label Loci Records and led to supporting slots on several US tours and remixes for artists like ODESZA.
Tor’s sophomore album ‘Blue Book’ was released in summer 2016 and served as the perfect follow up – a natural evolution of the best qualities of his previous work, while pushing his sound forward with new sonic palettes, ideas and tempos. It’s a record that plays like a journey from start to finish, with rhythmic bell patterns, chopped vocal harmonies, atmospheric swells, warm basslines, and a newfound love of analog synthesizers all creating a distinctive world. Since the album’s release Tor has gone on to curate the ‘Origins’ mix series, supported Emancipator at Red Rocks and on a sold out North American tour, remixed artists such as RUFUS DU SOL and CLOZEE and performed at festivals including Shambhala, Electric Forest, Oregon Eclipse, Envision, LIB, Sonic Bloom and the Do Lab stage at Coachella.
Frameworks
Rich, warm compositions bursting with blossoming strings, pulsing bass, and haunting vocals fill the catalog of Frameworks, Manchester-based performer and producer Matthew James Brewer. Adding his sophomore LP, KINGS, to his previous two EP's for Loci Records last year, Brewer has built an arsenal of deeply personal songs that move the body and mind. KINGS featured Ninja Tune's Jono McCleery, who joins fellow UK standout JP Cooper among the high-profile vocalists who have contributed to the Frameworks project across downtempo, organic house, and subtle hip-hop. His debut album, Tides, released in 2015 by First Word Records first thrust the producer into the international spotlight, granting him a following in the United States.
Frameworks has made a splash on the North American festival circuit, performing at Coachella, Electric Forest, Lightning in a Bottle, Camp Bisco, Global Eclipse Gathering, and the 20th anniversary of Shambhala. He's also toured in Europe alongside Loci Records founder Emancipator.
