Musical guests Fairything, Scalawag, and JP Maurice
Alex K. Masse, AKA Fairything, is a synthy, sapphic, singer-songwriter solo act making tunes to watch the sky to. They’ve been everywhere from Broadway Records crossovers to online multimedia collectives, from Vancouver Pride to working with the incomparable Penelope Scott. They’re also a member of Webpage 505, twice-featured on genre-bending digital art collective Goop House. Much of their musical inspiration comes from the video games & cartoons they grew up on, and these influences shine through in their unique melodies, poetic lyricism, and the dreamy, synthy sounds of their Suzuki Omnichord.
Teo Saefkow (aka Scalawag) is a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter who brings his Northern BC music festival roots to Vancouver. His sound Harkens to the folky multi-instrumentalism of Sufjan Stevens and the broody intricate lyrics of Hozier. With the goal of disregarding genre constraints, and simply creating whatever may come.
JP Maurice has been writing songs and performing as an pop artist for the better part of the last 2 decades. He placed second place in the final year of the Peak Performance Project in 2015 and top 5 in 2012, was on a season of The Launch, produces music at Blue Light Studios and founded Smol Dog Records here in Vancouver.
The Local Scene is the only market in town with touring musicians. Is it a show or is it a market? It’s a SHmarket!
We’re bringing you locals and gigging performers! Why? because we love all music! AND SHOPPING! Unique handcrafted vendors bring you beautiful gift ideas and of course you’ll find something for yourself (because you deserve it) so come on down and support live music and local artisans.
