Before the concert begins, our Artistic Director Brigid Coult will guide us all through a vocal warm-up (much like what the choristors experience each week at rehearsal) which is a cross between a voice lesson and ensemble training - where you learn how to make specific sounds with the correct alignment of body and use of vocal chords as well as hearing how to blend and work with each other as a music group.
Then, the Chorus will offer a performance that will give you a glimpse into how we put an average season of concerts together: from classics (often in the Fall) to holiday to Canadiana and Indigenous (often in the Spring) to pop, showtunes, opera or cultural-inspired music (often planned as our season finale) spanning reperatroire and styles from past years, current and upcoming.
The Chorus is a full SATB (soprano, alto, tenor & bass) choral group of about 50 singers that includes a diverse cross section of our city and greater metro Vancouver. Our group has musicians of all ages and backgrounds, and, likewise, all are welcome!
