Yelawolf has been delivering his rapid-fire rhymes since he independently released his 2005 debut Creekwater, but it wasn't until 2011 -- when Eminem signed him to his Shady label -- that he made his official arrival as one of hip hop’s most fascinating artists. The Alabama-born rapper’s live concerts brilliantly mix old school, new school and heavy rock. Audiences for 2012’s "Radioactive" tour were treated to one of the most energetic and high-octane tickets by a rap artist, witnessing Yelawolf launching himself into the crowd and surfing a wave of arms while belting out his signature turbo-speed raps. Another tour highlight featured Yelawolf’s rendition of old school jams, complete with mind-blowing turntable skills by DJ Vajra. After the huge success of the “Radioactive” singles, “Let’s Roll” and “Hard White (Up in The Club),” Yelawolf returned to the studio to produce three mixtapes and one EP in just over a year. These were “Psycho White” with Travis Barker, “Heart of Dixie,” “Trunk Muzik Returns” and, most recently, “Black Fall.” His love for the craft is much respected among hip hop artists, and many of rap’s big names, including Raekwon, Paul Wall, Killer Mike and ASAP Rocky, appeared on his 2013 mixtapes.
Initially recognized as a mural painting artist, Yelawolf introduced the 2005 mixtape, entitled “Pissin’ In a Barrel of Beez.” This hardcore collection of songs touched upon his humble upbringings. By 2011, he was featured by XXL magazine as one of the Top 11 Freshmen of 2011. Later that year, his Shady Records debut, “Radioactive,” was awarded an exceptional 4.5 mics out of 5 and entered at #27 on the Billboard 200. His long-awaited and eagerly anticipated followup, “Love Story,” a true labor of love for the rapper, will be released in 2014 with a corresponding tour.
