Preparations have begun for the 11th Annual Surrey Santa Parade to be held on Sunday, Dec. 4th at 5pm in the Cloverdale Town Centre. The Elves at the BC Vintage Truck Museum have started working on plans for improving Santa’s sleigh along with several other new vintage entries for the magical lighted parade. In spite of high winds last year the community spirit for the Parade kept growing along with a record number of sponsors and supporters in 2015. Once again the Cloverdale BIA along with many long time sponsors like the Cloverdale District Chamber, the City of Surrey and Elements Casino are proud to support this colourful parade.
The front portion of the Parade has a number of entrants that form a group of Big Rigs that travel across Surrey and end up at an event organized by the Downtown Surrey BIA in Central City parked around the Surrey City Hall. Traditionally the cross town convoy gathers at Highway #10 and the By-pass, and then heads west on Hwy #10 (56 Ave) to King George Blvd and heads north to 100 Ave before ringing around the City Hall at 104 Ave.
The Surrey Santa Parade has over 65 entries which includes politicians, local community groups, sport teams, companies, vintage vehicles, mascots, horses, R/C’s, dogs, boats, faith groups along with a number of visitors from different parts of the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver. This year there will be two entertainment areas which include food & music for pre-parade activity starting at 4pm. The first will be at the starting point of the parade which is at the BC Vintage Truck museum located at 176A St and 60th Ave (just west of Elements Casino). On a first come first serve basis, kids of any age will be able to get their photo with Santa by his sleigh float by the Truck Museum. (Please bring your own camera!). The second entertainment zone at Hawthorne Square is at the heart of historic downtown Cloverdale just across the street from the Parade organizers: The Cloverdale Business Improvement Assoc. and the Cloverdale District Chamber of Commerce – 5748 176 Street. Once again there will be a number of food vendors (all donating part proceeds to our charities) and activities for children including face painting. Please note that you can also help by giving a cash donation to one of our parade ambassadors that will be walking along side the parade entries.
