After spending most of 2016 on tour, Shirley is returning home to play old favourites and brand new tracks back on her home turf. This will be her own only feature show in Vancouver this year.
Armed with her guitar and sharp wit, she will sing you incredibly inappropriate and completely accurate songs about sex and human nature that will have you in stitches. Provocative truths go down smooth with her incredible voice and gorgeous guitar stylings. It’s unique mix of all original music, standup comedy, wickedly inventive lyrics, and biting social commentary. Fans of Garfunkel and Oats and Tenacious D: get ready to be taken to the next level.
After a surprise win of Patrick Maliha’s The People’s Champ of Comedy in 2012, Gnome began working her charms in comedy clubs, music venues, and burlesque festivals across Canada. Gnome’s underground cult status got an international upgrade when she hit the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2013, receiving rave reviews. She continued this success by touring the Fringe Festival circuits of Australia, Canada and the US, gathering awards and glowing reviews wherever she went. She has released three full-length albums since her debut in 2009, which you can hear frequently on SiriusXM stations all over North America. Along with a 2017 tour of Australia, including a season at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, she will be releasing her fourth album next year - through a TBA record company that is a pretty big deal.

Reviews for Shirley:
“This is everything you want from a late night comedy show; frivolous, embarrassing and simply brilliant. Hailing from Vancouver and equipped with the voice of a goddess, the burlesque comedy singer-songwriter takes the audience on a musical journey…” –Three Weeks
“One of the hardest things a comic, musical or stand-up, can do is take a simple sex joke and make it clever and relevant. Sometimes it’s easy to write dirty for a cheap laugh. Despite the level of dirtiness that Shirley sings about she is extremely smart and clever, providing the audience with amazing twists and turns that carry a profound sense of hilarity… Everyone in the audience was having a riot and a standing ovation was just not enough. –Onstage Ottawa
“There’s scarcely a facet of human sexual relations Gnome doesn’t seem able to turn into a hilarious song. And yes, provided you’re not terribly modest, you will laugh. A lot. Gnome is frank, completely uninhibited, and a smart comedian.” –CBC.ca
