Barney Bentall and the Cariboo Express

While 2014 marked the passing of the original long-running Barney Bentall & The Grand Cariboo Opry name, it’s not over for this cast of Canadian greats and up-and-comers! The music is back in 2015 and under a new name for this one-of-a-kind variety show. Under its new name, Barney Bentall & The Cariboo Express the show lives on and has reached a huge milestone with a 10th Anniversary Vancouver show to be held at the Vogue Theatre on November 28, 2015. The Vancouver show will be the last stop on its western Canadian tour, featuring Barney Bentall with Ridley Bent, Dustin Bentall, Wendy Bird, Matt Masters and the Gold Rush Allstars plus special guests.
Over the past 9 years, this fundraising concert has raised a total of $250,000 for Potluck Café Society in Vancouver, and the November 28th show will raise even more funds for this respected local charity. The Cariboo Express was born out of Barney Bentall’s love for the Cariboo region of BC and is the honorary birthplace of this long-running show. In doing a little at-home research on the area, Bentall came across the history of F.J. Barnard, and The B.X. Express, the main cartage and passenger services company on the Cariboo Road, also known as “Barnard’s Express”. So, in homage to the area and it’s rich history, Mr. Barnard Bentall saw fit to rename the traveling roadshow, The Cariboo Express.
The Cariboo Express is a highly entertaining show, hosted by Canadian music icon Barney Bentall, who blends humourous and sentimental monologues with a heartfelt set of roots and folk favourites. Bentall is joined by an exceptional roster of friends and guests including Ridley Bent, Dustin Bentall, Wendy Bird, Matt Masters and the Gold Rush All Star band, plus special guests. Past special guests have included Colin James, Jill Barber, 54-40?s Neil Osborne, Jim Cuddy, Tom Wilson and many more.
