Learn how the artists use wood to create beautiful handmade objects! This 3-hour session will introduce participants to three artists creating art using wood. No experience is required. Participants will start by exploring the Craft Council of British Columbia social enterprise shop – Crafthouse – and will be introduced to contemporary craft from local BC artists. They will then visit three local artists on Granville Island, and end the session at False Creek Community Centre.
Artists featured: Peter Braune of New Leaf Editions, Doug Warren of The Woodshop on Granville Island, and Michael Hamilton-Clark of Albery Studio Wood Turnings.
Program timeline
12pm: participants arrive at Crafthouse
12pm-12:20pm: participants explore the Crafthouse and are introduced to contemporary craft with a focus on woodworking
12:30pm: participants visit first artist (Peter)
1:10pm: participants and facilitator travel to second artist
1:20pm: participants visit second artist (Doug)
2:10pm: participants and Craft Council facilitator travel to third artist
2:20pm: participants visit third artist (Michael Hamilton-Clark) at False Community Centre
3:00pm: session ends
