Heather O'Neill, author of Lullabies for Little Criminals and The Girl Who Was Saturday Night, will transport audience members into an exquisitely imagined, early 20th-century landscape of charismatic pianos, invisible dance partners, radicalized chorus girls, drug-addicted musicians, brooding clowns, and an underworld whose fortune hinges on the price of a kiss. Twins Pierrot and Rose escape the confines of their Montreal orphanage to dazzle the concert halls and dark underground of the city with their piano playing and dancing. Joyful, imaginative and tragic, The Lonely Hearts Hotel shares the tale of the most extraordinary circus show the world has ever seen.
