Blueprint was created with the purpose of building a strong foundation and plan towards developing professional Hip Hop dancers of the likes that none had ever seen. This did not just consist of innovative dance performances and routines, it also consisted of other aspects pertaining to professionalism, perfection, discipline, determination, management and much more all while setting high goals and aspirations for themselves. To attain such high goals that no other Canadian dance crew had ever achieved, a specific plan was needed... and in December 2003, choreographer Steve Bolton created the all female dance crew, Blueprint.
Having a plan was just the 1st step and the only way it could become a reality was by having members who believed and dedicated themselves to pursuing what seemed to be the unattainable. Through hard work and dedication all the members throughout Blueprint's history helped build what was soon to be the most successful and renowned dance crew in Canadian History. Blueprint have influenced, inspired and mentored dancers and dance crews across the country, have blazed a path for others to follow, have trained those who now pass that knowledge to the next generation and have put Montreal on the map on an international level.
All of their hard work and dedication had paid off when a major turning point for Blueprint came in 2010. Blueprint were selected as the first non-American group to participate in Randy Jackson's America’s Best Dance Crew on MTV. They went on to becoming finalists on the show and ever since then they became internationally known as Blueprint Cru which had now become a co-ed group that consisted of 3 men and 5 women.
Following the success of America's Best Dance Crew, Blueprint Cru members took part in countless amazing endeavors, from choreographing for major artists, video games and television shows, to creating dance events of tremendous magnitudes, touring the world with some of the biggest recording artists of today, appearing in major motion pictures and even having their own custom running shoe designed by Reebok. Blueprint Cru and it's members have reached and attained everything they had set out for and more since they first began in 2003. Needless to say, all goals have been achieved. Accomplishing everything any Canadian choreo crew/dancer could ever wish to attain, weather it be So You Think You Can Dance, ABDC, Video games, World Tours, TV, Movies, Trophies, Awards... It was now time for Blueprint to evolve yet again.
In 2012 elite dancers from diverse backgrounds began working together to develop a new dance company unlike any the country had seen before. After nearly 2 years of planning, on August 1st 2014, the new Blueprint Dance Company was revealed, assembling some of the finest Choreographers, Crews and Leaders in the Canadian dance scene. Representing styles such as Popping, Waacking, Hip Hop, Contemporary & BBoying each member brings something extremely unique to the company. Skills ranging from artistic direction, concept creation, choreography and unparalleled technique have made them all leaders in their respective fields and have the new Blueprint Dance Company already setting it's sights high.
