Building awareness of the value heritage adds to our communities, our history and sustainability goals, the tour not only offers a chance to see inside lovely homes, but also allows up to 1500 people every year to see how heritage can work for a multitude of living options. We’ve opened a variety of buildings including grand Shaughnessy mansions, well-preserved character homes, apartments in converted industrial buildings, updated SRO suites in historic hotels and avant guard residences with revolutionary early design. We are proud of the long-term success and popularity of this tour, and as we also celebrate the 25th anniversary of VHF, we look forward to a great tour this year with a wonderful selection of homes.
In 2017, the tour once again offers a diverse array of homes, including a stunning First Shaughnessy home with some modern touches. We’ll also visit Strathcona to see the completed renovation of the Mary Lee Chan House. Having opened the new infill building that was part of this large restoration project on the 2016 Laneway House Tour, we now have the opportunity to see inside the principal residence. We will also take a first look at the recent development of Shannon Estates with a stop inside the gate house, which has been converted into a single-family residence. There are many more wonderful residences to see on the 2017 tour, so we hope you will join us and help us celebrate 15 years of appreciating heritage!
