M-I-C-K-E Y… it all started with a mouse. We’ve invited the Southwestern British Columbia Chapter of the Disneyana Fan Club to display rare and unusual Disney items from their collections, and share untold stories behind this beloved and iconic brand. These small Community Treasures exhibits reflect special interests and contributions by people and groups in Surrey.
The small, in-depth display is curated by David Lesjak, a member of the Southwestern British Columbia Chapter of the Disneyana Fan Club, from which the artifacts have been borrowed. Subjects covered by the exhibit include:
- Artifacts from Disneyland’s early years
- Press photos of Walt Disney himself
- Disney-designed World War II combat insignia
- Disney’s contributions to the war effort in World War II
- The beginnings of the Mickey Mouse Club in the 1930s
- Disney’s first merchandising rep Kay Kamen
