An evening of non-ordinary music:
Gentle Party:
Gentle Party has the instrumentation of a chamber-music quartet—harp, violin, cello, vocals—but its ambitions are symphonic, and this incredibly assured debut delivers stunning, wide-screen sound. Describing that sound, however, is a lot more difficult than simply falling into it. There are moments here that have a kind of Disney-princess preciousness—the swelling, dreamy “Ghost Writer”, for instance—but harpist Elisa Thorn undercuts the equally impressionistic “Little Tiger”’s sweetness with unsettling electronic swirls and aggressive plucking.
Simple Machines:
"It was hard to come to terms with the fact that one man was creating all the intricate sounds we were hearing."
- The Georgia Straight
SIMPLE MACHINES is Vancouver based multi-instrumentalist and electronic producer Amine Bouzaher. Like the harmonogram depicted in his logo, Simple Machines' performances begin with a single sonic strand. Live-looped guitar, violin, bass and keyboard are combined with sultry, hip-hop influenced beats to create performable arrangements that would otherwise be impossible without a full ensemble.
From the humble origins of a violin, a classical guitar and a loop pedal, Simple Machines has honed his live execution and aesthetic. Drawing on diverse influences, including IDM and hip hop artists like Bonobo, Fourtet and JDilla as well as live-loop artists like Bink Beats and French Kiwi Juice, Simple Machines fuses live instrumental performance with downtempo, electronic production.
As well as performing recently at the Vancouver RAW Signature Showcase and at 4/20 Vancouver Celebration with local future-bass duo, I M U R, Simple Machines' compositions have also been used in independent feature film "N A L O: I Ate the Sea".

DAñSE featuring Ridley Bishop:

His musical approach comes from making improvised loops and embracing the spontaneity of the sound creations, allowing every performance to be a unique experience.
DruiZ is currently working on a musical series featuring duets with other musicians, creating soundscape pieces inspired by the planets of our solar system that are accompanied by visuals created by Annie Chiavaroli..
