Science World will host an evening of lively conversation with a panel of BC principal wine makers, moderated by Kurtis Kolt, on what’s behind the Okanagan Valley’s first official sub-Designated Viticultural Area, the Golden Mile Bench.
Wine enthusiasts will learn about sub-appellation, why it’s important to wine making and what makes the Golden Mile Bench a sub-appellation.
The event will feature a collection of nine Golden Mile Bench wineries. Guests will enjoy wine tastings along with mouth-watering food pairings by Backyard Farm and Miradoro at Tinhorn Creek.
In 2015, The Golden Mile Bench became BC's first officially recognized sub-appellation, or sub-geographical indication. Sub-appellations are linked to unique climates, soil types and the resulting wine styles. The Golden Mile Bench became a sub-region due to its unique placement at the foot of Mount Kobau, outside of Oliver in the Okanagan.
