Dawson Creek-born Roy Forbes’ musical career took flight in early 1970s Vancouver. As “Bim” (his childhood nickname), Forbes opened for Supertramp, Santana, and Jeff Beck, garnering the spotlight for his emotive, quivering voice. The single “Can’t Catch Me” launched him as a headliner and folk star. Performing as Roy Forbes since 1987, he’s continued to record, headline folk festivals, and tour extensively, despite being diagnosed legally blind two years ago. Forbes has also penned songs recorded by Sylvia Tyson, Garnet Rogers, and Valdy, and hosted popular radio programs—CBC’s Snap Crackle Pop and the ongoing Roy’s Record Room on CKUA.com.
