Every so often a new singer emerges who’s able to assimilate multiple musical touchstones and still come off sounding remarkably fresh and unburdened by the past. Kandace Springs is one of those artists.

A truly engaging talent like Blue Note artist Kandace Springs is timeless and undeniable. As The Guardian said in a four-star review, “she has a rare ability that can’t be taught—to sound like an old soul, just doing what comes naturally.” The Nashville-based singer/songwriter/pianist makes warm and sophisticated soul, pop, and jazz with a stunning voice that pop legend Prince said “could melt snow.” Taking inspiration from the likes of Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, and Roberta Flack, the organic, intimate, and deeply soulful sound of this “suave songstress” (Wall Street Journal) is remarkably fresh and singularly hers. With Dillon Treacy drums, Jesse Bielenberg bass. Thanks to the Italian Cultural Centre, Vancouver.
