Dr. Lonnie Smith is a master of the Hammond B-3 organ. He’s been featured on over 70 albums and has performed with luminaries like George Benson, Lee Morgan and Lou Donaldson among others. Since 1989, Smith has consistently won the Downbeat Critics’ Poll as the world’s premier organist/keyboardist. Arranger/composer Jill Townsend leads a big band that features seventeen of Vancouver’s finest jazz musicians. The ensemble was formed in 2000 as a vehicle to have Townsend’s compositions and arrangements performed as well as to showcase prominent Canadian composers including Bill Coon, Rick Wilkins and Kenny Wheeler.
