Guests are encouraged to wear a “mad hat", preferably of your own creation, and become a SAGA member.
Indulge your taste buds while enjoying contemporary art with friends! Surrey Art Gallery Association (SAGA) invites you to be their guest at their annual Mad Hatter’s Strawberry Tea and Tour on June 21. Celebrate summer with a fun hat (preferably designed by you) while you tour different art exhibits and then enjoy luscious local strawberries!
Gallery curator Jordan Strom will introduce you to two exhibits: the poetic three-channel video artwork Meera Margaret Singh: Lalbagh that records the movement of people on India’s three billion-year-old rock formation; and High Muck a Muck: Playing Chinese, an interactive multimedia exhibit in our TechLab that invites you to play the Chinese lottery and explore Chinese immigration to the west coast of Canada from early 19th century to the present day. Participants will also get a sneak peek at the juried show Arts 2017 featuring local artists reflecting on Canada for Canada’s 150th anniversary that will open two days later.
Following the tour, there will be a strawberry shortcake and tea reception, with the opportunity to meet SAGA board members and become a SAGA board member yourself!
