The Music Heals Charitable Foundation raises awareness of the healing powers of music and fundraises for music therapy and related services across Canada. Their mission is to increase patient access to music therapy in children’s hospitals, seniors’ homes, palliative care facilities, burn units, across the autism spectrum, bereavement support, at-risk youth programs and more. Music Heals has donated almost a $900,000 to music therapy programs in Canada in their first four years in operation.
Tickets are on sale now for the 4th annual Strike A Chord: A Benefit for Music Heals. This year’s event is Thursday October 19th at The Commodore Ballroom.
Vancouver’s only Rock N’ Roll gala features Juno and Grammy winning performers and sells out every year. Strike A Chord has raised over $300,000 for local music therapy programs over the last three years.
Past performers include Serena Ryder, Big Sugar, Shane Koyczan, Dan Mangan with a 60-kid choir, Maestro Fresh Wes, Jim Byrnes with The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer, Ashleigh Ball (Hey Ocean!) with the Allegra Chamber Orchestra (North America’s only all-female orchestra), Chin Injeti, Jully Black, Delhi 2 Dublin, The Matinee, and many more. The evening is hosted by Prevail of Swollen Members.
