Still Moon Arts Society and Evergreen are partnering once again for World Rivers Day 2017. World Rivers Day is a global celebration of water and rivers around the world that was started in British Columbia
Date/Time: Sep 24 2017, 9:00 am to 11:00 pm
Vancouver, Renfrew Ravine Park LabyrinthCost: Free
As Still Creek is one of the last remaining streams in Vancouver, we welcome you to celebrate the magic of this unique urban ecosystem right here in East Vancouver.
We will kick-off the morning at 9:00 am with a few words from Mark Angelo, who founded World Rivers Day. We will then follow with a speaker series on urban ecology topics including urban birds and foreshore estuary restoration. After the speakers, join fellow volunteers as we plant native trees and ferns in the riparian area, and learn to identify benthic invertebrates living within the stream. Stick around for snacks and refreshments starting at noon, while listening to a musical performance. Once you've finished snacking, come to the Still Moon tent for arts and crafts. Environmental Youth Alliance will be hosting a plant giveaway throughout the event.
Please wear closed-toe shoes, bring water, and dress for the weather! Rubber boots are recommended for participating in the benthic invertebrate identification activity.
