Each of these distinct works circle around the same present interests of 605’s artists: individuals united, a shared experience held between separate bodies, moving as one.
Albatross (2016) is a driving duet created through an international collaboration with Brussels-based artist German Jauregui. This physically grueling piece pulls apart a single moment to dissect and experience its contents in expanded time. Like two parts of one’s self, in continuous motion and perpetual contact, two bodies inhabit a single person's trajectory through a test of endurance.
Vital Few (2016) is another collaborative undertaking, utilizing mechanisms of constant codependence and interrelation between six dancers. Each performer’s own distinct expression, movement and choice making weaves together to collectively build the moving sculpture of the group body, the whole greater than the sum of its parts. The work pushes the company into new physical territory to further explore the essence of unison and togetherness.
Challenging themselves to build from a single choreographic concept, the yet-to-be-titled new work distills the company’s current research around movement looping and repetition, exploring its inevitable transformation and deterioration over time.
