7:30 SHOW
Actor's Nightmare
Every actor has a nightmare where they find themselves on stage without knowing any of their lines, or even having read the script! The Actor’s Nightmare brings this to life, pairing a guest actor who has completely memorized their lines from a play—and will stick to those lines no matter what—with an improviser who not only hasn’t memorized any lines, but will have no idea what play they’re even in.
Three actor/improviser pairings. Three wild and crazy mashed up scenes from five different plays—which, thanks to the talented improvisers and actors, will somehow make total sense! The Actor’s Nightmare is a hilarious high wire act, a head on collision of theatre and improv that will leave you breathless!
League Night
League Night was formed in 2016 and features players from two Highwire Comedy Co. and Dad’s Garage Theatre in Atlanta, GA. We attack our shows with absurd levels of commitment and committed levels of absurdity.
TEDxRFT
TEDxRFT is two entirely improvised TED talk from Rapid Fire Theatre. With slides they’ve never seen, and topics from the audience, Julian Faid, and Kory Mathewson will aim to inspire while scrambling for justifications. Forget ideas; these are Jokes Worth Spreading.
Winner of Best of The Fest award – VIIF 2015
9:30 SHOW
The Fictionals
The Fictionals are honoured to present Success Circle, a show that celebrates the little wins and big victories of the VIIF 2017 audience! During the week of the festival and before their performance, the improvisers will collect true success stories from performers, volunteers and comedy fans. Then they will use these real-life triumphs to inspire a comedy celebration!
International Ensemble
The International Ensembles are an opportunity for individual improvisers the world over to spend a week workshopping new and new-to-them improv forms. Dozens of performers apply for a handful of spots and work with guest directors to create evening performances live for you, our audience.
This year our TWO INTERNATIONAL ENSEMBLES include performers who live in Toronto, Phoenix, San Diego, Calgary, Los Angeles, Portland, New York, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Montreal and Vancouver, who have toured across Canada, across the US, and internationally, who are writers, actors, directors, musicians and stand up comedians (when they’re not improvising, of course). They are television stars, Artistic Directors of theatres, comedy and theatre award winners, teachers, friends and lovers. They’re also all gifted improvisers, and they’re all here to entertain you.
One thing is certain — the International Ensembles are groups of people who will likely never all work together again. In some cases, you’d have to travel pretty far to see any of them on their home turf. Now you can enjoy all of them, without even leaving your seat.
