After a lifetime of singing other people's music, Cayla is now performing her own music and sharing her own story. She teamed up with Bill Sample (BC Entertainment Hall of Fame inductee) to co-write songs for her album PLUSH RED CHAIR. (Release date September, 2017).
When they initially began writing they spoke about choosing one particular genre but opted to just see what came out naturally. The result are some great songs that fall loosely under the jazz umbrella, with hints of country rock, blues, swing and gospel. It is sophisticated, melody driven music with empowering lyrics. Cayla Brooke's underlying drive is to share the reality that you are never too old to follow your dreams. Never give up - push the fear aside and just put one foot in front of another.
