“A seldom-seen, wondrous combination of hardness and softness brings out the potential of dance.” – Dance Magazine
“…beautiful choreographies, oscillating between contemporary dance, Butoh and classical ballet. Vigorous jumps are contrasted with equally touching, troubled motions…Roaring applause for an unusual, individual, fascinating performance.” – Neues Volksblatt
“A breathtaking total audiovisual experience that touches us deeply, powerfully, and enduringly.” – Turun Sanomat
While in Vancouver, the company will offer a community masterclass. Check out the Masterclass page HERE for more detail as it becomes available.
Ten years ago, a small group of individuals were determined to bring the best in international dance to Vancouver, and out of their passion and commitment DanceHouse was born.
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, DanceHouse is pleased to present a very special 2017/18 season. Each of the five presentations has been specially picked to celebrate a unique aspect of DanceHouse history.
From exceptional international work, to the return of one of the most electrifying pieces the series has seen, to a world premiere by an emerging artist, the new season is a celebration of a decade of vibrant, exceptional works.
“It is no small feat for a start-up arts organization to celebrate its 10th birthday,” said Brian Rowland, President of the DanceHouse Board of Directors. “I’m so proud that DanceHouse, and the international calibre dance it brings to the city, has become an integral element of Vancouver’s arts fabric.”
