The work took Handel a brief 24 days to complete, and was, according to him, a product of divine inspiration. This led Handel to leave an inscription at the end of the score: “To God alone the glory”.
Join us with conductor Alexander Weimann and Vancouver Cantata Singers artistic director Paula Kremer for a presentation of Handel’s greatest known work in the intimate atmosphere of the Grosvenor Theatre. Hear how the use of period instruments in a mid-sized hall can transform this iconic work from merely powerful to transcendent.
Featuring Yulia Van Doren (soprano), Krisztina Szabó (mezzo-soprano), Charles Daniels (tenor), and Tyler Duncan (baritone).
