This November, the Spartacus Book Club will be discussing "Red Skin, White Masks" by Glen Coulthard
Date/Time: Nov 27 2017, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Vancouver, Spartacus BooksAge: All
"Coulthard challenges recognition as a method of organizing difference and identity in liberal politics, questioning the assumption that contemporary difference and past histories of destructive colonialism between the state and Indigenous peoples can be reconciled through a process of acknowledgment. He examines an alternative politics, seeking to revalue, reconstruct, and redeploy Indigenous cultural practices based on self-recognition. "
The Spartacus Book Club meets on the last Monday of every month. Everyone is welcome! We have some regular attendees, and others come for just one book. It's okay to attend even if you haven't read the book or haven't finished it yet.
Throughout fall 2017 we are focusing on books related to colonialism and decolonization by Indigenous authors. We will be alternating between fiction and non-fiction.
If you need a copy of the book, we do sell them at the store and the library has some as well.
