From growing up in the ‘rough-and-tumble world’ of Hamilton, ON and battling addiction, to recording multiple gold records and recording music with the likes of Sarah McLachlan, Billy Ray Cyrus, and The Rankin Family, Canadian musician Tom Wilson has quite a story to tell. However, as he shares in his unflinching memoir, Wilson’s life story had more layers that were yet to be revealed.
In Beautiful Scars—called “a remarkable, generous, big-hearted book that will stick with me for a long time” by Guy Vanderhaeghe—Wilson recounts his search for the truth about his family from the shores of the St. Lawrence River to the Mohawk Reserves of Quebec, on to the heights of the Manhattan skyline. Join outgoing Artistic Director Hal Wake for an illuminating conversation about family, music, class, secrets and survival.
