ACCESSIBILITY
There will be a team of sober safer space folks present who will be wearing bright armbands for any needs and support. They’ll have earplugs, water, and can take you up to the Pride Lounge on the 2nd floor of the Nest if leaving the space is needed.
The Pit Pub is located in the bottom floor of the AMS Nest at UBC, at 6133 University Blvd. The Pit is wheelchair accessible with a curved ramp leading into the venue. While the washrooms in the Pit are gendered we will be making both bathrooms non-gendered so all folks will feel safe to use them. If need be there are also single stall bathrooms located on each floor of the Nest, with the bottom floors' located across the Pit to the far right end of the floor. We ask that you help us make this event as scent reduced as possible by not wearing fragrances or using scented products.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
This dance is being hosted on the unceded lands of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), and Səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations. While this might "just" be a social event, it is no less important to centre indigenous voices and support decolonial political lines in this space; in part, this means not taking a liberal, permissive attitude towards "casual" bigotry and oppressive rhetoric just due to the informal, relaxed social context.
