From sketchbooks to rhymes, this emerging female recording artist prepares to "paint the world with visual language" through art and catchy tunes. You can expect a mash up of sounds from Baltimore club, Miami bass, electronic dance and party rap.

SOFTIESHAN (YVR)
Vancouver born and bred, Softieshan has quickly become one of the city's favourite djs and event producers, widely known for her femme-forward rap sets and all around radiant vibes. Founding member of PEP TALK, organizer of Intersessions, resident dj at The Fox and the American, you can find her playing heavy hits guaranteed to make you dance!

DJ KRISTA (YVR)
Creator of Downtown, a local Queer/Lesbian dance party, this talented DJ, promoter and photographer spends her time capturing moments both on the dance floor and behind the camera. Expect Top 40 +Mash Ups+ Club Bangers from this local creative.

SKYLAR LOVE (YVR)
Inspired by underground rave parties they attended in the 90’s Sky picked up their first set of turntables at the age of 15. Since then, they've witnessed the evolution of DJing and electronic music for over a decade and bring in the elements of old school and new school to their DJ sets.
Influenced by Deep House, Bass music and Hiphop, this renegade DJ has love for all genres which is revealed through their original mashups and remixes. Skylar is a strong advocate on breaking barriers for queer DJs and has traveled all over headlining in major cities including Berlin, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Las Vegas, Honolulu, Atlanta, San Francisco and Oakland. Skylar shows versatility through imaginative style and sound over live performances and recorded DJ sets. The mission is to take you on a musical journey of different beats, rhythms and sounds through the medium of freestyle mixing.

THE BODY PARTY ROOM

If you wanna party, shake your body! BODY PARTY takes over the Vortex this month, sweaty awesomeness guaranteed.
Bella and ManyBothans have been DJ'ing throughout BC for years individually, but when the two stepped on stage together in 2014, it was love at first mix. Now, after years of trading track for track at all your favourite queer parties in East Van, they have developed a rep for delivering all the hype all the time.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Babes on Babes is held on occupied Indigenous land belonging to the Coast Salish Peoples. This includes the territories of the Musqueam, Skxwú7mesh-ulh, Stó:lo &Tsleil-Waututh nations.

There are no presale tickets, tickets will be available at the door. Fortune is a big venue with plenty of space for all, we also have lots of door staff on board to ensure entry runs smooth and speedy :)

Accessible pricing policy in effect!
It's important to us that folks with financial barriers be able to access this event. We ask that you give us an advance notice, if possible, if you need sliding scale admission. Whatever you can afford is ok.

THE BUDDY SYSTEM:
Please remember: consent is sexy… and mandatory. Leave your oppressive & non inclusive behaviour at the door. The Buddy System will be in effect. Our buddy will be wearing a bright yellow shirt. They will have bottled water handy for you, run interference if someone is receiving unwanted attention and generally serve as go-to support should any problems or questions arise.
While we cannot encourage the use of recreational drugs, we understand that folks have a variety of ways they like to party. We will have someone trained to administer NARCAN (available at this event) in the event of an opiate overdose.

FUNDRAISING:
A portion of proceeds from this event will be going to local Queer services. Details of donation will be announced after the event takes place. Stay tuned!
Last month Babes On Babes donated $300 to Spectrum Alternative school in Mount Pleasant. They plan to use the funds as a start up for the Queer/Straight alliance program. If you have any interest in donating to this cause, give us a shout and we will point you in the right direction :)
