BRIO is a new ensemble of improvisors focused on challenging the limits of improvisation
Date/Time: Feb 7 2018, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm
Vancouver, Dusty Flower Shop
Six months into our process, we are offering an open workshop for other theatre artists, intended to share our discoveries, and deepen knowledge in the broader Vancouver arts community about improvisation.
We acknowledge that we will be gathering on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish & Tsleil-Waututh peoples.
What can you expect? Part on-your-feet workshop, part philosophical salon, part multidisciplinary lab. We will share with you some exercises that we have been experimenting with in our process, answer any questions you may have about our ensemble, and discuss possibilities for exploration in the future. If you are a theatre practitioner of any kind, and you like to get weird, this workshop is for you!
This project has been partially funded by the BC Arts Council, and as this workshop is part of our development process, we will be charging a discounted participation fee of $30.
Fees will cover rental costs and help raise funds for the future of the project.
Please arrive at 6:15, as we'd like to start promptly at 6:30pm. Please wear clothes you are comfortable moving in, and bring a water bottle and snack. The Dusty Flowershop is wheelchair accessible.
The Dusty Flowershop is #141, 2050 Scotia Street aka. "The Artiste". Enter via the alley, south of the building.
