This month, we will be dancing to boppin’ tunes from the 1950’s. You can expect hits by:
Billie Holiday,
Patsy Cline,
Chuck Barry,
Ella Fitzgerald,
The Diamonds
The Chordettes
& Frank Sinatra … + more!
If you have an itch to dance to a specific tune, please post your request below!
At Lunch Hour Sock Hop, all bodies are welcome, judgement of yourself and others is not! Dancing can look like many things, it can be highly energetic, it can be quiet and contained. Dancing can be done while standing, while sitting, while lying down or with the use of mobility-aids. Dancing cannot be “good” or “bad”, its only about feeling the groove, whatever that means to you.
Lunch Hour Sock Hop aims to be an inclusive space for all people regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, heritage, ethnicity, spiritual beliefs, age, physical or mental health, physical or cognitive capabilities, or socio-economic status.
Lunch Hour Sock Hop takes place on the unceded traditional territories of the Coast Salish peoples of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
