UCABC will be hosting its first ever Black History Month Youth Summit at Douglas College New Westminster Campus
Date/Time: Feb 17 2018, 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm
New Westminster, Douglas College
With a focus on youth and young adults aged 16-25, we’ll be celebrating the achievements and contributions of Black Canadians in BC; getting our laugh on with several Your Vancouver Entertainment (YVE) sponsored guests including local comedian James Burr; hearing inspirational stories from warriors within our community including former professional football player Alexander Stewart; and rapper/performer, Patrick a.k.a. “Leps”, on how they have overcome adversity and continue to excel. We’ll also be engaging in dialogue with our youth panelists to get the 411 on living in Vancouver as a black youth but most importantly – we want to hear from you! Let’s talk about issues that are currently impacting our youth and how we address them as a community. Come early to secure your seats and enjoy the hype, as DJ Ali Baba hosts the day and graces us with the latest tunes! This is a free event with light refreshments available on site and prizes (swag) to be won! Located walking distance from New Westminster SkyTrain. Underground parking is also available for $2/hour. Spread the word and let’s start this movement together! Hope to see you there!
