The boy’s name was Alan Kurdi, nephew of author and refugee advocate Tima Kurdi. Discussing The Boy on the Beach with journalist Kathryn Gretsinger, Kurdi takes us back to the streets of Damascus to follow a family’s flight from the war-torn borders of Syria to the suburbs of Vancouver, and their persistent search for safe harbour in a shattering time of war.
