Inspired by early music, Renaissance is a spectacular collaboration between Ballet Kelowna and Toronto’s Continuum Contemporary Music that showcases some of Canada’s finest choreographers, dancers and composers. Noted for injecting their work with a raw physicality and kinetic exuberance, Artistic Director Simone Orlando and Vancouver-based choreographer Heather Myers create a new works, infusing their creations with an experimental flair and imaginative charge.
Internationally renowned for his outpouring of choreographic inventiveness, James Kudelka’s Byrd Music, highlights the choreographer’s mastery of innovation and the extreme athleticism and depth of emotion of the company of artists. Acclaimed Canadian choreographer John Alleyne’s neo-classical quartet – Split House Geometric – is a vigorous, precision-perfect work.
Toronto’s Continuum Contemporary Music has been a vital part of the contemporary cultural scene in Canada and abroad for 31 years, and will bring each of the pieces in Renaissance to dazzling heights with their live performance.
