About
On Saturday, October 6 - the Confratellanza Society - the longest standing Italian-Canadian society in Vancouver - will be holding the 114 edition of their annual Christopher Columbus Banquet at the Italian Cultural Centre (Il Centro) - this year honouring Federico Fuoco as Italo-Canadian of the Year.
The annual award is presented by the Confratellanza Italo-Canadese Society to persons of Italian heritage in recognition of community service or their business achievements. Among the many Italo-Canadians who have been honoured throughout the years and with which Federico shares this distinction - names include late Justice Angelo Branca, Michael Buble, historian and author, Ray Culos, as well as Allan De Genova.
History of Confratellanza Society
Instrumental in the formation of the Confratellenza society was late Justice, Angelo Branca, also considered the most famous criminal defense lawyer in Canada's history. Branca in 1966 amalgamated several societies, some dating back as far as 1904 to form the Confratellanza, a bi-cultural society dedicated to the preservation and advancement of Italian-Canadian culture in Vancouver and its surrounding areas.
Celebrate Federico Fuoco with Us
We invite you to join us in celebrating Federico Fuoco who has been an active member in the community for over 3 decades sharing his passion and dedication via his music, community advocacy and business achievements. This includes his unique and well known dine & dance restaurant, Federico's Supper Club, as well as concert promotions via his F2 Productions Inc., bringing international music artists to Vancouver from Italy and North America, including names like Zucchero, Massimo Ranieri, Tony Orlando and Gino Vannelli. In addition, Federico volunteers his time on various boards, including as a director on The Commercial Drive BIA, overseeing The Drive's 'Little Italy' initiatives and advocating for the viability of the The Drive's independent businesses and heritage area. In addition, proud of his Italo-Canadian heritage, in 2010 Federico was instrumental in resurrecting Italian Day, becoming President of the Italian Day Festival Society until 2015, and still active as a director behind today's largest cultural street festival in Vancouver.
Born and raised in Vancouver's Little Italy, Federico's voice today goes beyond the stage on which he started at a very young age with his father. He is an entertainer and showman, restaurateur, entrepreneur and community advocate who unquestionably has made an impact in the history of Italo-Canadians and respective contributions in Vancouver, both culturally and otherwise.
Join us for a memorable and fun evening at Il Centro Italian Cultural Centre on Saturday, October 6th - offering dinner, dancing and community, Italian-style, as we celebrate Italo-Canadian of The Year - Federico Fuoco!
Benvenuti a tutti!
