Izzy & Zoya Lynch
Behind the scenes of Kindred
Our childhood experiences both guide and define us. Sisters Izzy and Zoya Lynch will discuss the making of their film Kindred, and how the reliving their childhood story revealed highlights and imperfections from growing up that they did not expect. By unraveling the history behind their family’s unlikely journey to become backcountry lodge owners they were forced to face some big questions on both a professional and personal level. They will provide behind-the-scenes insights on the challenges of making their first film together, and discuss a common question in this digital age- how much of our personal lives should we be sharing online? How do we discern real life experiences from the perfectly curated lifestyles we see in the media? Beyond the stunning scenery and well-documented adventures, there is always more to it than meets the eye.
Izzy Lynch is a professional skier based in Revelstoke BC. Her dedication to deepening her connection with the mountains, their culture and the people that inhabit them has led her to wear many hats in the ski industry. Izzy and Zoya Lynch were just regular kids growing up in the city, until their parents made one split-second decision that would completely change their lives. Kindred is the story about their family’s unlikely journey to becoming backcountry lodge owners and how their parents leap-of-faith set the course for their personal and professional paths. Through archival photos and interviews from the Lynch family, combined with stunning imagery of Amiskwi Lodge in the Canadian Rockies, this film inspires viewers to consider their own leaps-of-faith and how the choices they make can influence generations to come.
