In the Chinook Jargon “Tillicum” means “people” and “Shantie” means “song” – and together we get “Song of the People.” Coastal Indigenous Artist in Residence and vocalist Russell Wallace will work with guitarist Tony Wilson to create jazz arrangements of Salish songs, while exploring the contributions of Indigenous jazz artists such as Mildred Bailey and Jim Pepper, culminating in this performance.
