It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 66th IEEE PCIC Conference which will be held from September 9th through September 11th, 2019 in beautiful Vancouver, BC, Canada
Date/Time: Sep 10 2019, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Vancouver, Vancouver Convention Centre East | Event calendar
Attending IEEE PCIC 2019 means you also will experience Vancouver, a beautiful city renowned for its international flavour and inspiring diversity.
Vancouver, a metropolis or gorgeous scenery, is also a favourite destination for visitors from all over the world, and a magnet for international meetings and conventions. With an edgy urban vibe and progressive culinary scene wrought by its multi-cultural population, it is little wonder that Vancouver features regularly on lists of the world’s “most liveable” cities.
Blessed with a milder climate relative to other Canadian cities, Vancouver’s neighbourhoods and nature parks are made for walking.
Our Committee is determined to provide you with a memorable experience and we are here to help you make the most of your stay in Vancouver. Some of the top attractions in Vancouver would include:
Stanley Park – Vancouver’s famous urban forest. This 1,000-acre park is emblematic of the symbiotic relationship between the city’s expansive stretches of nature and its steel-and-glass skyscrapers. Many of the trees found in the park are centenarians, while a contemporary seawall borders its perimeter. Housing the Vancouver Aquarium and ample dining options (including the famous Japadog food cart), Stanley Park is one of Vancouver’s most popular recreational spots.
The perfect way to get around Stanley Park is to go for a bike ride around its 28-km long seawall, also known as the “world’s longest uninterrupted waterfront path”. You can rent your bicycle from one of the rental shops at the Georgia Street entrance of Stanley Park.
A short ferry ride away, Granville Island offers a delectable collection of shops, galleries, cafes, book stores, and theatre venues. Its Public Market is a hot favourite among locals and tourists alike; get ready to pick up all manner of delicious food and baked goods, local produce, and unique gifts while you are here.
For those captivated by Vancouver’s Chinese culture and cuisine, take a “wok” around Chinatown – literally and figuratively. This four-hour walking tour begins with a meandering journey through the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Chinese Garden, an impressive urban oasis of green which topped the global list of city gardens in National Geographic’s Secret Journeys of a Lifetime.
If you prefer uncovering Vancouver’s hidden secrets and decadent pasts, make a beeline for the Forbidden Tour. During the walk, you’ll discover the lost souls of Gastown, or uncover how this seemingly spotless city came to be known as the capital of sin.
What better way to take in Vancouver’s natural beauty than from 1,250 metres above ground? The North Shore Mountain Discovery tour takes you up Grouse Mountain through the creeping trails of the North Shore rainforest, and across the 70-metre-high Capilano Suspension Bridge – a heart-stopping feature on many a traveller’s Vancouver to-do list.
Vancouver is a foodie city. That’s not up for debate. Just ask Olive magazine or Condé Nast Traveler, both of whom named it one of the best food cities in the world.
Vancouverites don’t just care what’s in their meal, they care where the ingredients come from as well. Menus routinely list the farm, fisherperson or artisan cheesemaker or butcher responsible for the components on your plate. And this is definitely not something relegated to crunchy-granola hippy cafes – you’ll find our very best restaurants are as much about their ingredients as they are about their interior décor. Seafood is sustainable (look for the Ocean Wise symbol), meat is nose-to-tail, and vegetables are local.
IEEE PCIC 2019 will be an exceptional conference for sharing the latest technical developments and insights as well as experiencing the unique culture of Vancouver.
We thank you for your participation and look forward to seeing you in Vancouver.
