THE PACK AD
Opening for ^ these babes are two your local favorite bands:
STRANGE BREED & LAND LINE
Dance Party after ’til late with special guest DJ.
(Stay tuned for our Babes On Babes Sunday night Pride party details coming soon!!!)
THE PACK AD:
Destruction and melody, acid wit and bruising vocals-this is the Pack A.D. Singer/guitarist Becky Black and drummer Maya Miller have made a sound so gigantic, so fierce and raw and empowering, that it’s easy to forget there are just two people behind this brilliant, carefully constructed havoc. Shredding and pounding their way through every song, the Pack A.D. swallows you whole inside their fearless Franken-blend of heavy psychpop/garage-rock.
STRANGE BREED:
Strange Breed are a 4 piece, all queer, all female garage rock band based out of Vancouver, BC. Sounding like every 90’s riot grrrl fans’ feminist wet dream with an unexpected modern rock twist – Strange Breed has been described as a “Grittier B52’s”, or what a collaboration between Veruca Salt, Paramore, Bikini Kill and Hole would sound like.
They are currently in the studio working on their first studio album, and are slowly taking over their local music scene one show at a time. Strange Breed constantly has individuals of all different backgrounds reaching out and expressing how much they appreciate seeing queer representation in accessible music, and hearing “good, catchy tunes with an actual message”.
Strange Breed is all about promoting positive change through the messages in their music and in their general interactions with the world and online – be it political, social, or based around physical/mental health. They have been a part of raising money for vital organizations like Music Heals BC, Girls Rock Camp Vancouver, The Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre and WISH! Drop In Centre Society.
LAND LINE:
Vancouver’s own queer post-punk trio, Land Line, fka Sorry Edith, is apologizing no more. On the heels of their first cross Canada tour supporting rock legends, The Pack AD, they are set to release their long awaited eponymous 5 song EP in early 2019. While promising their “hard-hitting and emotionally driven sound” (Discorder Magazine), Land Line has broadened their influences and evolved from Garage/Grunge rock to a more refined and polished New Wave 5th generation Post Punk sound.
The EP was recorded and mixed at Jackknife Studios in Vancouver, B.C. by Jason Corbett (lead singer of ACTORS and producer of Art D’ecco, Mesa Luna, ACTORS, Frankiie) and is an emotional drive that careens through the East Side of Vancouver and to the bully running the country next door in a tight 16 minutes. Land Line creates hauntingly catchy music that touches on the current hopes and fears of our present time.
Aubrey, Deona and Kaylee fall nothing short of deftly produced minerals and stones.
THE BUDDY SYSTEM:
Please remember: consent is sexy… and mandatory. Leave your oppressive & non inclusive behaviour at the door. The Buddy System will be in effect. Our buddies will be wearing bright neon shirts. They will have bottled water handy for you, run interference if someone is receiving unwanted attention and generally serve as go-to support should any problems or questions arise.
While we cannot encourage the use of recreational drugs, we understand that folks have a variety of ways they like to party. We will have someone trained to administer NARCAN (available at this event) in the event of an opiate overdose.
