Artist Atheana Picha of Kwantlen First Nation will guide you through block print making techniques to create your own designed cards. Using safety cut blocks you will carve designs that will produce lovely prints on blank cards. Participants should also anticipate mixing their own ink colours, providing unique and creative ways to highlight your beautiful designs. Each participant will leave with a set of cards and new found appreciation for Coast Salish use and execution of negative and positive spaces in their art practice. Participants do not require previous experience in block printing or in ink design.
Workshop ticket includes FREE admission to our feature exhibitions There is Truth Here: Creativity and Resilience in Children’s Art from Indian Residential and Day Schools, Wild Things: The Power of Nature in our Lives, Haida Now: A Visual Feast of Innovation and Tradition and c̓əsnaʔəm, the city before the city (reg. $19).
