SHOCORE is back. (But don’t call it a comeback. Call it a well-planned, full-scale assault by a thoroughly rested rock band.) So why is one of Vancouver’s most beloved bands returning to the scene after such a long absence? Because the world has gone mad, that’s why. The world has gone mad and the only thing that might help is some pump-your-fist-in-the-air-good-times-rock-and-roll. So, at the risk of sounding overly dramatic, SHOCORE has returned to, you know, save the world. You’re fucking welcome, world.
Still high off the timeless brilliance of their previous two releases – 2001’s Devil Rock Disco and 2005’s Evilution – SHOCORE roll-out yet another side-to-side classic in their latest offering, The Aging Youth. They want to share the hooky/heavy goodness that is their third – and perhaps greatest – musical milestone.
It’s going to be just the way it was. SHOCORE and special guests CRYSTAL PISTOL will transport all in attendance back to a better time; a time when houses were affordable, phones weren’t digital prisons, and a person could compliment a co-worker’s appearance without intervention from HR. (Chill out, Angela and Debbie from Accounting; all I said is I like the way your figures add up.) But I digress.
So join us for the resurgence of rock and roll hope as Core White (vocals), Sho Murray (guitar), Sal Ericson (guitar), Bob Wagner (drums), Tim Steinruck (bass), and Dean Robertson (samples, vocals) lead the riff-starved masses in the fist-pumping, gang vocal, booze-fueled sing-a-long the world needs right now. A Saturday night at the Rickshaw with Shocore. It’s the rock show that just might save us all.
