The WestCoast Big Band Festival Presents: Friday Night Swing and dinner!
The night will start off with a Swing Dance lesson at 6:00 pm by Maria Morlin. She will give you the moves so you can swing all night long!
This is a rare opportunity to dance to swing music as it's meant to be played - by a big band. And not just one big band, but two of Vancouver's leading community big bands, FAT Jazz and Impressions. Both bands feature stellar vocalists and selections from Swing Era dance band greats like Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Jimmie Lunceford, and Benny Goodman.

About FAT Jazz
FAT Jazz has been providing fantastic performances of big band music to the Lower Mainland for more than 20 years. The band performs a variety of big band music ranging from the music of the 1930's all the way to present day, contemporary artists such as Norah Jones, Michael Bublé, and Bruno Mars. Vocal flair is provided by the exceptional Krista Wallace.
FAT is an acronym for "Friends And Teachers". There are many music teachers and retired music teachers in the band, as well as the wonderful "friends" who make the ensemble complete. Many members of the band live and work in the Tri-Cities area. They rehearse every Thursday evening in Coquitlam, BC.
About Impressions
Impressions is a 17-piece big band with an eclectic repertoire that spans the full range of jazz, from swing classics to contemporary charts, many by local composers and arrangers. The band is directed by the eminent composer, arranger, and band leader Jill Townsend. Impressions has been a popular peformer at swing dances for several years. For the WestCoast Big Band Festival, Impressions' lead-trumpet Peter Juric will double on vocals, bringing his expressive Sinatra/Ray Charles influenced style to the band's swing repertoire.
