Scratch is a free tool for exploring computational creativity by programming interactive media (like stories, games, animations, and simulations) and sharing those creations with others online, used by millions of people all around the world. Scratch Educator: a teacher who wants to support computational creativity in the classroom and beyond, helping learners—from elementary school to high school, across curricular areas and settings—imagine, program, and share with Scratch. We will co-create the agenda on Nov 16th, but sessions may include:
- Introduction to Scratch: If you are completely new or a novice programmer with Scratch come on by and we will help you learn the basics by doing some of the Scratch Challenges in the Creative Computing Curriculum Guide and with the Scratch Card Challenge Set.
- Integrating the Curriculum: Scratch is a powerful tool when you ask students to use it to create programs that APPLY their understanding of the curriculum. Let's get together and brainstorm some project ideas.
Your idea here: Do you have a topic that you really want to discuss? Work that your students are doing that you really want to share? Are you a community based informal educator who is using Scratch and you want to network with other like-minded individuals?
A light lunch will be provided. We're aiming for a low waste event; please bring your own coffee mug, water bottle, plate, and utensils
