Every spring, tens of thousands of Canadians across the country lace up their sneakers to participate in Aga Khan Foundation Canada’s (AKFC) World Partnership Walk, the country’s largest event in support of international development.
In 2015, over 40,000 walkers hit the streets in 10 cities across the country, raising over $7 million to fight global poverty.
100% of donations from the Walk goes directly to support AKFC programs in Africa and Asia, some of the poorest parts of the world.
Walk day begins with an opening ceremony featuring notable dignitaries lending their support to the cause, followed by a scenic 5 km walk along the seawall, live entertainment, great food, a kids world, and more. Included as an MC this year is Vancity Buzz’s Zain Meghji!
