Vancouver saxophonist Steve Kaldestad is an in-demand musician as his work with Jesse Cahill’s Nightcrawlers, Jodi Proznick and others clearly attests. His latest release NY Afternoon (featuring The Rosnes Trio) was released to critical acclaim. Joining Kaldestad is one of the great artists of her generation—pianist/composer Renee Rosnes. A four-time JUNO Award winner, NY-based Rosnes creates fiery, forthright post-bop, full of bold imagination. She’s performed with Joe Henderson, Ron Carter, Wayne Shorter, and with husband and fellow pianist Bill Charlap. Her music “offers exquisite balances of delicacy and power, assertiveness and deference.” (Downbeat) With Neil Swainson bass, Lewis Nash drums.
Four-time JUNO Award-winner and 2003 SOCAN Composer of the Year, pianist and former Vancouverite Renee Rosnes relocated to New York in ’86 and quickly made her mark. Her “paradoxical amalgam of passion and precision” (Winnipeg Sun) makes for fiery, forthright post-bop, full of bold imagination. She’s played with Ron Carter, Joe Henderson, and Wayne Shorter, and recently released an album with husband and fellow piano great Bill Charlap. A rare talent, “Rosnes offers exquisite balances of delicacy and power, witty and weighted ideas, assertiveness and deference.” (Downbeat)
