“1:1:1” (phase one)- Inverso Productions/Lesley Telford. Live Work
Work-in-progress;
Inverso is in its first stages of research for our new work: “1:1:1”, which explores perception distortion and the neurological effects of living through a screen. How does our mind play tricks on us in the digital realm? Where can we find harmony in a space that imposes the unreal as real? The dancers are stuck in a set perpendicular relationship as a means to investigate displacement, illusion, and ultimately, the importance of real human contact after a prolonged sense of lack.
Choreographer | Creator: Lesley Telford
Composer: Ferrari, Purcell
Performers: Stéphanie Cyr+ Kiera Hill

Lesley Telford is a choreographer, educator and the artistic director of Inverso Productions and Performance Research Project. She is grateful to live and work on the unceded and ancestral territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil Waututh people. Her recent work incorporates text, visual art and science and has been described as “tapping into deep recesses of our emotional and intellectual landscapes”. Lesley danced with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Compañia Nacional de Danza and Netherlands Dans Theater 1. As a choreographer, she has created works for Ballet BC, Netherlands Dans Theater 1, Hubbard Street Dance Company 2, Compañia Nacional de Danza 2, Ballet Vorpommern, Butler Ballet, International Project for Dance in Rome (DAF), University of Utah and Arts Umbrella Dance Company, among others. Through Inverso, she choreographed and produced 2 full evening works: Brittle Failure and Spooky Action. Her independent work has been presented throughout Europe and Western Canada. She has a Master of Arts in Cultural Production from the University of Salzburg. Inverso is presently creating a new work, “1:1:1” and this upcoming season also includes commissions for Ballet BC and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens.
