About the Quarantettes:
The Quarantettes are a six-person acoustic ensemble performing mostly original music set to poetic text. Each song is a poem, written by a different female or non-binary poet from the past and present, and is set to music composed by Mishelle Cuttler and Molly Mackinnon. With deep poetic imagery, rich harmonies, guitar, violin, ukulele, percussion and accordion, each song is a tantalizing folk music experience invoking images of home, nature, and the sublime.
About Vostok:
Vostok is a Vancouver-based trio singing music from Eastern Europe and the Balkans. "Vostok" means East - Eastern European music, and this vocal trio— Aliya Griffin, Emily Villavicencio, and Noa Neuman Spivak primarily perform a cappella. With a strong connection to their Ukrainian music roots, they share a love of the rich and varied, yet often interconnected music and cultural traditions from across Eastern Europe and the Balkans.
