While our community continues to struggle through Co-Vid 19, we have been focused on making our farm a safe family experience for you to enjoy. We have been following the news closely and making changes in accordance with the government’s restrictions and recommendations. Our top concern is always your health and safety. Our aim has been to create a fun safe outdoor experience that you can enjoy during this incredibly stressful time. In order to do that, we have made changes to our policies and procedures. This year the farm will be set up very different from what you have experienced in the past. What hasn’t changed though is our wish to help you create beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.
This year we would like to strongly recommend that you come early in the season. Bring your family when it is quieter. The first couple of weeks in October, the weather is usually the nicest and it is by far the quietest time of the season. Many people believe that pumpkins will rot if they are brought home too early and, as a result, they like to wait until just before Halloween. In fact, the opposite is true. Pumpkins are better stored at your home then they are out in the field where they are exposed to the elements. A pumpkin’s biggest threat is the combination of frost and sunshine. The sun is magnified through the frost and it burns the skin, which causes them to rot quickly. If you bring your pumpkins home, you can protect them from getting nicked or damaged. To do so, store them in a cool sheltered place such as a garage or outside your front door, under cover, and off of the ground (away from concrete or grass; keep them on a box or piece of wood). Avoid the busy times and enjoy your pumpkins at home as a part of your fall décor for the entire season long. Just make sure you wait patiently for carving until the end of the month!
